Our project, the “Future Fabulators” has been selected for funding in the Culture Programme (2007-2013) Call 2012
The „Future Fabulators” project, initiated by Kulturverein Time’s Up (AT), in cooperation with AltArt Foundation for Alternative Arts (RO), Foundation of Aperiodic Mesmerism (BE) and MITI – Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute – Associação (PT), is aimed at creating half-fictional spaces through storytelling and fabulation, in order to provide frameworks for exploring possible scenarios of future.
Creating speculative visions of the future is a form of identifying possible scenarios of social development and exploring potential consequences on everyday life. By integrating a range of ideas and themes about changes on working practices, migration, demography, etc.- the project imagines multiple and open visions of Europe’s future.
Future Fabulators combines visions of futurists, scientists, economists, politicians’ and opinion makers with the perspective of citizens – experts in everyday life – to bring the public’s attention to issues and impact of future developments that may have on culture and contemporary life style.
AltArt contributes to the project through organizing debates, workshops and elaborating studies using Future Forecast – a method developed by AltArt through four years of practice. Analysis by fabulation is an innovative way to share knowledge, to create collective future scenarios and to assume attitudes and actions meeting these possible future developments.
The Culture Programme (2007-2013) of the European Union supports cultural cooperation at European level, through promotion of mobility of the cultural sector, encouraging circulation of works, cultural and artistic products and inter-cultural dialogue. In 2012, at European level 114 cultural cooperation projects have been selected for funding. From Romania 17 cultural organizations are involved in 14 projects.
Future Fabulators is the fourth Culture Programme project that AltArt participates in as a co-organizer.
