In his book “The society of Spectacle” from 1967 Guy Debord stated that representation has started to replace reality, completely colonialising social relations. The phenomenon is bigger than it appears at first sight, already including the power discourse: the political dimension of the media generated spectacle is obvious if we have in mind the idea of ”visible governance”. In this context media hacking becomes a political instrument, and the media hacker is a political actor. The debate will seek to cover the theoretical and practical aspects of the existence of the individual and his possibilities to generate political discourse through hacking.
The debate is part of the project Re:make – rethinking media art in collaborative environments (www.remakeme.eu), co-funded by EU Culture 2007-2013 Programme and by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund.
